About Peter G. Hanson, M.D.

• Born in Vancouver, Dr. Hanson graduated from the prestigious University of Toronto in 1971, at the age of 24. He worked as an ER doctor for three years, then established a flourishing family practice in Toronto. He delivered over a thousand babies, did more than 5,000 house-calls, and looked after patients of all ages, from pediatrics to geriatrics. His practice of Western medicine incorporated medical acupuncture since 1980.

• In 1986 he wrote the first of his international best-sellers, “The Joy of Stress”, followed a few years later by “Stress for Success”. These have sold over a million copies in 20 languages.

• His entertaining key-note speeches have been in demand on the professional circuit across America and around the world.

• In 1992 Dr. Hanson moved to Denver’s Porter Hospital campus, expecting to focus on stress management. However, his first patient presented with a shoulder injury from work, which he successfully treated with acupuncture. A few months later, that patient spread the word, and Dr. Hanson has specialized in acupuncture ever since. The patient’s name was John Elway.

• Today, Dr. Hanson has the largest drug-free pain clinic in the US, and has trained hundreds of MDs to do acupuncture. He is the team acupuncture consultant for the Colorado Rapids Soccer team, as well as the NHL’s Colorado Avalanche and the Los Angeles Kings.

• Dr. Hanson has helped pioneer many techniques, including the use of computerized micro-electric current to stimulate needles. His success in treating facial paralysis cases led to the development of a cosmetic muscle toning system. He and Suzanne Somers will soon have a home version of their Facemaster machine ready for sale to the public.
